L’équipe du Centre de recherche interuniversitaire sur la communication, l’information et la société (CRICIS) a le plaisir de vous convier au colloque pré-IAMCR intitulé « Producteurs d’information publique et intérêt public » qui aura lieu le samedi 11 juillet prochain à l’UQAM.
La rencontre sera une occasion privilégiée de réfléchir aux enjeux entourant l’information d’intérêt public.
Des producteurs d’information interviennent dans l’espace public pour informer, alerter, promouvoir, décrier. Ils le font à titre d’expert, commentateur, membre du public, lanceur d’alerte, activiste, militant, journaliste, journaliste-citoyen, relationniste, lobbyiste, citoyen… Tous s’expriment par une variété de canaux, revendiquent (ou non) le fait de produire de l’information, d’être des acteurs de l’information d’intérêt public, intentionnellement ou incidemment. Les différents types d’information ‘publique’ et les différents types de producteurs d’information obligent une réflexion sur les définitions à donner à l’expression ‘information d’intérêt public’. Certains développements relativement récents, comme les phénomènes d’auto-publication ou la généralisation des réseaux sociaux, jettent un nouvel éclairage sur cette question ancienne : qui ou quoi définit l’information d’intérêt public, comment est-elle définie et au nom de quoi ?

IAMCR 2015 Pre-Conference
News Producers and the Public Interest
It is with great pleasure that the Centre de recherche interuniversitaire sur la communication, l’information et la société (CRICIS) team invites you to the IAMCR 2015 preconference “News Producers and the Public Interest”, which will take place on Saturday July 11th at the Université du Québec à Montréal.
This preconference will be an ideal opportunity to reflect on the issues surrounding public interest information.
News producers, individuals and groups who produce noteworthy information, intervene in the public sphere in order to inform, promote, alert, and denounce. They do so as experts, commentators, members of the public, whistleblowers, activists, citizens, journalists, citizen journalists, publicists, or lobbyists. All communicate through a variety of channels, although they may or may not claim to be producing news of public interest, intentionally or incidentally. The variety of « public » news and the diversity of people producing it demand a discussion about how « public interest news » can be defined. Some recent developments, such as self-publication and social media, shed new light on an old question : who and what defines public interest news, how should it be defined and by whose authority ?
